Today I danced,
Let the music lead the way.
Not speaking but
hearing what my body had to say.
She was kind.
I made no demands.
She was accepting,
of the ever-present vigilance
that is my way.
She wept with gratitude,
her tears upon my skin, shared
joy.
Today
as we danced
we sang with a trusting harmony
so long unsung,
I made no promises.
She expected none.
